M-taka Receives Special Mention at Seoul Smart City Prize 2026

The Association of Countrywide Innovation Hubs (ACIH) wishes to celebrate its member, Homeless of Kisumu, for the milestone achieved by its M-taka initiative, which received a Special Mention Award at the Seoul Smart City Prize 2026, in partnership with SEMI Korea.

M-taka has received a Special Mention Award at the Seoul Smart City Prize 2026, in partnership with SEMI Korea!
Selected among 46 semi-finalists from 210 submissions across 142 cities and 56 countries, this is another milestone in our journey to build digital infrastructure for an inclusive circular economy.
Beyond the award, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and the work still ahead. We’re building technology that makes the informal waste sector visible, strengthens recycling enterprises, and unlocks the value of waste.
This recognition belongs to the waste collectors, aggregators, recycling enterprises and the M-taka team building this future with us.
Our objective is to promote activities and programs of the member hubs and support their vision of testing and building impactful sustainable businesses in rural and second tire towns of Kenya.
