ABOUT US
The Association of Countrywide Innovation Hubs (ACIH) is a vibrant network of innovation hubs championing grassroots innovation and entrepreneurship across Kenya. Established to foster inclusive growth, ACIH connects hubs from diverse regions to promote local solutions, empower communities, and drive sustainable development.
With a focus on digital transformation and economic empowerment, we collaborate with stakeholders in the private sector, academia, government, and development organizations to advance innovation ecosystems. Our work ensures that every corner of the country has access to resources, knowledge, and opportunities to solve local challenges and contribute to Kenya’s digital economy.

BACKGROUND
History and Development
ACIH was founded to address the imbalance in innovation support that favored urban centers, leaving peri-urban areas underserved. Since its inception, ACIH has made remarkable strides in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship across Kenya. The association quickly established itself as a crucial player in the national innovation ecosystem, contributing to policy development, launching impactful initiatives, and forging strategic partnerships.
One of the notable milestones in ACIH’s history was its instrumental role in shaping the Startup Bill, which aimed to create a favorable environment for startups to thrive. During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, ACIH co-hosted the Great Covid-19 Innovation Challenge with Konza Technopolis, an initiative that attracted over 320 innovations and nurtured 15 into incorporated startups.
MEMBERSHIP
ACIH’s membership has grown from the 15 founding hubs to over 156 hubs that are sector agnostic, supporting startups in diverse fields such as agribusiness, finance and fintech, edtech, energy, the blue economy, environment and conservation, and climate, women enterprises, Internet of Things (IOT), fabrication centres and emerging technologies.
This diverse membership reflects ACIH's commitment to fostering innovation across various sectors and geographical regions. The member hubs benefit from a collaborative platform that promotes knowledge sharing, resource mobilization, capacity building, and networking opportunities.
